metaphor یا استعاره یکی از مهم‌ترین بخش های تدریس هست. متاسفانه به علت کاربرد معدود استعاره، به این بخش در آموزش کمتر توجه شده.

Idiom
An idiom (Latin: idiomī, “special property”, from Ancient Greek: ἰδίωμα, translit. idíōma, “special feature, special phrasing, a peculiarity”, f. Ancient Greek: ἴδιος, translit. ídios, “one’s own”) is a phrase or an expression that has a figurative, or sometimes literal, meaning. Categorized as formulaic language, an idiom’s figurative meaning is different from the literal meaning. There are thousands of idioms, occurring frequently in all languages. It is estimated that there are at least twenty-five thousand idiomatic expressions in the English language.
اصطلاح
اصطلاح (لاتین: idiomī ، از یونانی باستان: ἰδίωμα ، ترجمه. idíōma ، عبارات ) است. به معنای عبارت یا اصطلاح است. طبقه‌بندی شده است. معنای اصطلاح با معنای واقعی کلمه متفاوت است. هزاران اصطلاح وجود دارد، که به طور مکرر در همه زبان‌ها استفاده می‌شود. تخمین زده می‌شود که حداقل بیست و پنج هزار اصطلاح در زبان انگلیسی وجود داشته باشد.
Metaphor
A metaphor is a figure of speech that directly refers to one thing by mentioning another for rhetorical effect. It may provide clarity or identify hidden similarities between two ideas. Antithesis, hyperbole, metonymy and simile are all types of metaphor. One of the most commonly cited examples of a metaphor in English literature is the “All the world’s a stage” monologue from As You Like It: This quotation expresses a metaphor because the world is not literally a stage.
استعاره
استعاره چهره‌ای از گفتار است که مستقیماً به یک چیز اشاره می‌کند. ممکن است وضوح یا شباهت های پنهان بین دو ایده را مشخص کند. Antithesis, hyperbole, metonymy and simile انواع استعاره هستند. یكی از متداول‌ترین نمونه‌های استعاره در ادبیات انگلیسی ، مونولوگ “همه دنیا یك مرحله است” است.

we can draw our students attention to idioms and metaphors to idioms
and metaphors when they occur. recognition is more important here than production,and over using culturally inappropriate idioms in a foreign language is not a good idea
we can get our students to research a common area of metaphorical language by looking up words in their dictionaries and listing some metaphorical phrases.Perhaps they can draw a metaphor word map

we can make sure that students learn metaphors as lexical chunks
we can tell our students to bring new metaphors they find to class
(we can give the students some metaphorical phrases (or phrasal verbs etc
they then have to use four of them in a story

مدرسین عزیز این رو همیشه به یاد داشته باشید در آموزش این بخش زبان انگلیسی درک اصطلاح (استعاره) جایگاه بالاتری نسبت به کاربردش دارد. به زبان آموزان در این بخش اجازه بدید خودشون مفهوم رو جست و جو کنند. در این بخش زبان‌آموز رو تنها نذارید چون امکان آموزش اشتباه وجود داره. چرا که آموزش اشتباه فاجعه بزرگی در روند آموزش هست. رفع اشتباه برای خود زبان‌آموز و تیچرهای بعدی معظل بزرگی میشه. زبان آموز به جای صرف انرژی برای مطالب جدید باید آموزش های اشتباه خود را اصلاح کند.
در این مرحله نقشه کلمه رو پیشنهاد می‌کنم. (نقشه کلمه: یک نمودار که نشون میده کلمات چطور با هم ارتباط دارن.) (جمله سازی)
ایده‌های جالبی میشه برای این بخش استفاده کرد. خلاق باشید. زمان بدید خود شاگردان اصطلاح رو تحقیق یا جست وجو کنند و درگیر اصطلاح بشوند. خودتون نمودار رو طراحی کنید. بعد از پایان زمان، از زبان اموزان بخواید جاهای خالی رو پر کنند. در جلسات بعدی که احساس کردید زبان آموزان این روش رو کامل یاد گرفتند (دونفر هم یاد بگیرن کافیه چون بقیه رو در جریان میزارن.) نمودار رو به عهده خودشون بزارید. اجازه بدید زبان آموز با اصطلاح یا استعاره ارتباط برقرار کنه.
حالا چطور نمودار بکشیم؟
نمودار شامل یک بخش ستونی و عمودی
با توجه به مطالب درس عنوان ستونی و عمودی رو انتخاب کنید. از آن جایی که خروجی ما صحبت کردن (speaking) زبان آموز هست پس تلفظات مهم هستند. با توجه به میزان صدا طول نمودار تعیین میشه.
این روش برای تمام سطوح ها به صورت فعالیت گروهی (group work,pair work)انجام میشه.
